Happily, we're surrounded by friends and likeminded organizations who are also working to promote the preservation of trails and open space, and who appreciate the joys of caring for and riding horses. By working together and supporting each other, we can all be stronger!
ECHO has helped create a new equestrian area in the town of Topsfield at Pye Brook Community Park. This multi-use park includes team-sports playing fields, a perimeter wildlife trail, picnic area, and open recreation areas. It is open to the equestrian public with a trailer entrance located off Bare Hill Road. The Horse Park is also easily accessed by Route 97 and via existing Bay Circuit and Essex County Trails Association trails.
Like BTA/BOLT, the ECTA works tirelessly with landowners, conservation organizations, town officials and trail users to maintain trails and ensure that access to natural places and open spaces remains part of our rich heritage here in Essex County.
The horse enthusiasts (riding and non-riding) at the West Newbury Riding & Driving Club want to keep West Newbury horse-friendly and fun, and have a great time enjoying each other's company. They organize riding activities, including the Pipestave Hill Horse Trials, and work on the compilation and circulation of theLocal Equine Activities Calendar, a free publication listing all local equestrian activities for all disciplines.
Windrush Farm is a non-profit, working horse farm located right here in Boxford that has been successfully helping children and adults with physical, emotional, and learning disabilities since 1964. Windrush uses horses to expand the personal, emotional and physical boundaries of all who ride and work at the farm. Their amazing program is founded on the principle that all of us, disabled or not, are capable of more than we think.
