Dressage and Horse Show

2008 BTA/BOLT Dressage and Horse Show a sizzling success

Saturday, July 19th, was a hot steamy day with temperatures in the 90s but that didn't stop anyone from having a great time at this year's BTA/BOLT horse show.

With four rings operating simultaneously in the beautiful Lockwood-Moore field, 85 riders and their horses enthusiastically competed in dressage, jumping, pleasure, and trail classes. Just to make it more exciting, there were games too - hilarious yet serious competitions involving eggs, spoons, skinny pieces of paper and general shenanigans.

Very few horse shows offer the variety of classes that BTA/BOLT provides. Juggling all those kids, ponies, adults, horses, trailers, schedules and activities is no small feat, but thanks to an incredible group of volunteers and supporters> many of whom spent hours setting up on Friday and then arrived early to help out again on Saturday - the entire show ran smoothly and safely.

Congratulations to all 2008 BTA/BOLT competitors and their equine partners - you are all champions! And special kudos to our trophy and division winners!

North Shore Riding Club

Why should the kids have all the fun? This easygoing, eclectic group of adults started their own "Pony Club" — first as a chapter of the national "Old People's Riding Club" and now as its own organization. Members of the club can choose to participate in weekly flat and jumping lessons as well as ongoing drill team exercises. The group hosts a wide variety of speakers, seminars and demonstrations — mostly in and around the Boxford area -- that are usually free of charge to members and open to the general public for a small fee.
